These closures are necessary as crews will be working in and around the safety areas of Runway 5-23. Runway 13-31 will remain open during the Runway 5-23 closures.
Phase II, Stage B consists of the completion of an access road along the East side of Runway 5-23, replacement of two culverts off the approach end of 23, installation of a new JCP&L line, and installation of stormwater treatment devices.
In order to accommodate this work, a displaced threshold of 1,000' on the 23 end of Runway 5-23 will be installed. Runway 5-23 will be FULLY CLOSED from August 6 at 2200 through August 9 at 0600 to install the displaced threshold.
The displaced threshold will shorten the usable length of Runway 5-23 to 5,097' and will remain in place from August 6 through November 1. Runway 5-23 will be FULLY CLOSED a second time from October 30 at 2200 through November 1 at 0600 to remove the displaced threshold and restore Runway 5-23 to full length.
Runway 13-31 will be available for use during the two, full-weekend closures of RWY 5-23 except for one, three-hour window to accommodate threshold markings work.
