Yard Waste

Grass, brush, and leaves must be recycled. Yard waste will not be accepted in plastic bags. Please note: brush cannot be mixed with grass or leaves. If brush, grass, or leaves are mixed, the Township cannot collect your material.

Recycling Grass

Grass must be placed in strong, water-tight plastic or metal receptacles, not exceeding 32 gallons and equipped with proper handles and tight-fitting removable covers. Receptacles must be tightly covered and the weight cannot exceed 50 pounds.

Whenever possible, the Township Committee urges residents to use a "cut it and leave it" approach to lawn care.

If you have questions about your grass collection day, please call the Public Works office at 973-428-2495.

Collection of Brush

Curbside collection of brush is done by appointment only. To schedule a pick-up, please call the Department of Public Works at 973-428-2495. Brush cannot be larger than four inches in diameter, or longer than four feet long. It must be bundled, tied, and placed curbside.

Please note: brush collection is suspended during leaf collection season.

Curbside Leaf Collection

Curbside leaf collection will begin on or about October 15 through December 14. Due to new stormwater management regulations, it is the homeowner's responsibility to ensure that leaves are kept at least 10 feet away from the storm basins. Please do not put branches, rocks or brush clippings in leaf piles.

Leaves placed at the curb after collection dates or in the spring will not be collected.
