Single-Stream Recycling

Single-stream recycling means that you can put several materials together into the same recycling bin(s).

Single stream unacceptable items

On January 16, 2019, the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority announced an important change in its plastic container recycling rules for its single-stream curbside recycling program.

Curbside Recycling Pick-Up

The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MCMUA) collects recycling materials curbside.

To ensure you receive collection, please place your recyclables at the curb the night before your scheduled collection, but no later than 5 a.m. the day of collection. The MCMUA cannot return to collect material that was put out later than 5 a.m. the day of collection.

Household garbage, recyclables, or grass clippings cannot be placed at the curbside before the following times on the day before collection day.

Collection During Windy Conditions

Until material is collected, it is the responsibility of residents to ensure that recycling does not blow around. If you do use lids, please label your containers to identify the material in the container. Free container labels are available in the General Office at the Municipal Building (1000 Route 10), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
