Planning Board Actions
The Hanover Township Planning Board conducted a public hearing, via Zoom Webinar on February 9, 2021, to hear public comment on the adoption of the Township's 2021 Housing Element & Fair Share Plan and 2021 Land Use Plan Amendment, which amends the previously adopted 2020 Housing Element & Fair Share Plan and 2020 Land Use Plan Amendment. Township Committee Actions
At its January 14, 2021, Township Committee meeting, the governing body approved a resolution authorizing the Township's Planning Board to undertake a preliminary investigation to determine whether the proposed study area, Block 4802, Lot 2, qualifies as an area in need of non-condemnation redevelopment pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:12A ET SEQ.
The Township Committee of the Township of Hanover introduced Land Use Ordinance No. 29-2021 during its in-person, regular open public meeting on Thursday evening, August 19, 2021. The ordinance authorizes the adoption of a Redevelopment Plan for property located at 190 Park Avenue in the Whippany section of the Township. A public hearing and consideration of adoption of Ordinance No. 29-2021 then took place on Thursday evening, September 9, 2021, at 7:00 PM in the Main Public Meeting Room at the Municipal Building. Public Hearing was opened and heard but a continuation of public hearing and adoption was carried to the October 14, 2021 Township Committee Meeting. The Planning Board did not meet again until September 21 and had not yet been able to make its recommendation for the Township Committee to act upon the adoption of this Ordinance. The public hearing continued at the Township Committee meeting of October 14th, after the receipt of the recommendation from the Planning Board.
On October 14, 2021 the Township Committee of the Township of Hanover adopted Land Use Ordinance No. 29-2021 following the close of the public hearing. Prior to adoption, the governing body, on the advice of the Township Attorney, amended the ordinance with one un-substantive change in correcting the date of the final Redevelopment Plan for 190 Park Avenue from August 12, 2021 to August 20, 2021. Copies of the Plan and adopted ordinance are attached for reference and information purposes.
