IMPORTANT RECYCLING & SANITATION NEWS:

TO ENSURE THAT YOU RECEIVE ADEQUATE SANITATION AND RECYCLING COLLECTIONS, PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO CONSULT THE CALENDAR
ON A WEEKLY BASIS TO MAKE CERTAIN WHEN TRASH AND RECYCLABLES SHOULD BE PLACED AT CURBSIDE.

All Hanover Township residents will have two collection days per week. Collection days are: Monday and Thursday, Tuesday and Friday, or Wednesday and Saturday, depending in which area of the Township someone resides. Collection days have not changed. Only those materials indicated will be collected on any given collection day. For example, if a resident has collection days of Monday and Thursday, he or she should put out only those materials indicated for collection on every Monday and every Thursday.

Sanitation must be placed in strong, water-tight plastic or metal receptacles not exceeding 32 gallons and equipped with proper handles and removable covers. Receptacles must be tightly covered, and the weight thereof, including the contents, cannot exceed 50 pounds. Trash must be sufficiently drained and wrapped and/or placed in plastic bags before it is deposited in the receptacles.

The Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA) collects recycling materials curbside. To ensure you receive collection, please place your recyclables at the curb the night before your scheduled collection. If conditions are windy, place heavy items on top of lighter items (e.g., glass bottles on top of your plastic), or use lids. Until material is collected, it is the responsibility of residents to ensure that recycling does not blow around. If you do use lids, please label your containers to identify the material in the container. Free container labels are available in the General Office at the Municipal Building, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If your collection was missed, please call us by 10:00 a.m. on the morning following your scheduled collection. From 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., call 973.428.2495 or the County at 973.361.5106

RECYCLING CENTER: The Hanover Township Recycling Center is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Residents have the option to bring recyclables collected at curbside directly to the Center during the hours of operation noted above. Recyclables and sanitation should never be left outside the gate when the depot is not open. In an effort to ensure that traffic flows safely and smoothly through the Center, please make every effort to sort your materials into the three categories noted before you get to the Center. Landscapers, dump trucks and trailers are prohibited from the Recycling Center.

RECYCLING: When the word "Recycling" appears on the schedule, the following items, separated into three categories, 1) Newspaper, 2) Other Paper, and 3) Bottles and Cans, will be collected curbside on that day.

IN CASE OF SNOW STORMS, SANITATION & RECYCLING
COLLECTIONS WILL BE SUSPENDED.

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING RECEPTACLES MUST BE PLACED CURBSIDE IN AN AREA FREE OF ICE AND MUST NOT BE PLACED ON SNOW BANKS.

CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION DEBRIS: The Township does not collect construction and demolition debris. It is the responsibility of residents doing home repair or renovations to dispose of this material by bringing it to an approved facility, or by rending a dumpster. Asphalt roofing shingles, stumps and oil contaminated soil must be recycled at facilities licensed by the State of New jersey to accept this material. If you hire a contractor to renovate or repair your home or property, and construction debris is generated, your contractor may recycle this material for you.

If you need information about facilities licensed by the State of New Jersey to accept this material, please contact the Recycling Coordinator at (973) 428-2495.
