ENGINEERING INSPECTOR:

The Township of Hanover seeks a full time engineering inspector. Graduation from an accredited College or University, with a degree in Civil Construction Technology is preferred and a minimum of five (5) years of experience is required. The duties of this position include; conducting on-site inspection of various private development projects and municipal capital improvement projects. The duties also include collecting data, reviewing layouts, preparing cost estimates for the in-house design of a variety of engineering projects.

Daily functions include, observing work in progress to ensure compliance with plans and specifications and Township standards, interpreting drawings and specifications, communicating with contractors and the public in solving construction related issues, recording quantities of materials utilized in capital projects and reviewing invoices for accuracy, maintaining a daily log for construction and inspection activities and assisting with office work related to the engineering department. Knowledge of CAD and GIS a plus. Effective written and verbal communication and computer skills, proficiency in Word and Excel, are essential. PROBATIONARY POLICE OFFICER:

The Township of Hanover Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Probationary Police Officer.
Applicants MUST meet the following qualifications: 
• Possess a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in any field of study OR an Associates Degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice, or Forensic Science 
AND
• Be currently enrolled or recently graduated from a Police Academy Alternate Route Program OR possess two or more years’ experience as a full time police officer in New Jersey ONLY .
Degrees must be from an accredited college or university and be recognized by the American Council on Education as listed in the Accredited Institutions of Post-Secondary Education.  
Applicants must also meet the following minimum requirements:
• Must be a citizen of the United States of America.
• Must be a resident of the State of New Jersey.
• Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License at the time of appointment.
• Must not be less than 18 year of age or more than 35 years of age, at the time of appointment.  In accordance with NJ statutes, age exemptions for military service and prior law enforcement service may be granted to meet the maximum age standards.
• Must pass a comprehensive background investigation
• Must demonstrate proficiency in writing and basic computer skills.
• Must be physically capable of meeting the required firearms qualifications mandated by the Attorney General Guidelines.
• Must be psychologically fit to perform all duties of a police officer.
• Must meet the requirements set forth in the job description for police officer.

• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language well.
• Be of good moral character.
• Candidates must be available to work any schedule, shift, or assignment as ordered by the Chief of Police or his designee.
Successful candidates will be given conditional offers of employment and then must pass a urinalysis as well as a comprehensive medical and psychological examination.

CROSSING GUARDS:

Hanover Township Police Department is seeking Crossing Guards to assist our children in crossing the streets on their way to and from school.  Hours are dependent on the school schedule.  All candidates must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid New Jersey drivers license and a clean driving record.  Hourly rate is $16.12 per hour.  No fringe benefits.  EOE/ADA. Building Proctor

The Township of Hanover seeks part-time Building Proctors to work in the Recreation and Park Administration Department.  Building Proctors report to the Superintendent of Recreation and Park Administration and are responsible for overseeing the use of Department Facilities during non-office hours including evenings and weekends.  Successful candidates must be 18 years of age or older, in possession of a valid N.J. driver’s license, be of good character and have excellent customer service and communication skills for heavy public contact.  Hours vary depending on events.  No fringe benefits.  EOE/ADA. Wastewater Collection System Operator 

The Hanover Sewerage Authority in Whippany NJ is seeking qualified candidates for the full time position of Wastewater Collection System Operator.  Responsibilities include operation and maintenance of various sewer cleaning and CCTV inspection equipment and associated collection system activities such as manhole frame resetting, utility one call mark-outs, sewer installation inspections, completion and submittal of various reports and inspection of commercial and industrial grease interceptor equipment.  Additional duties include general housekeeping and upkeep of all assigned areas and equipment as well as treatment plant maintenance activities.  Availability for emergency response for sewer blockage remediation, repairs and other activities is mandatory.  Candidates must possess a High School Diploma and a valid NJ driver’s license. The Hanover Sewerage Authority in Whippany NJ is seeking qualified candidates for the full time position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I.  Responsibilities include operation and maintenance of various equipment, controls, valves, etc. according to schedule; recording and calculating data from various meters and indicators; sampling and analysis of wastewater and sludge from various facility locations as required; operation of sewer cleaning and inspection equipment and associated collection system activities; general housekeeping and upkeep of all assigned areas and equipment.  Rotating weekend and holiday coverage is required, as is availability for emergency repairs and response to facility alarms.  Candidates must possess a High School Diploma and a valid NJ driver’s license.
