[ARCHIVED] Power Restoration Statement

Township of Hanover

Township officials have conducted several telephone conferences with JCP&L focusing on the need to restore power to our residents as quickly as possible. As of last evening, August 6th,  at 8:00 PM, 1498 Hanover Township customers were without electricity.  In our telephone conference with JCP&L this morning, August 7th, JCP&L advised the Township that it made considerable progress overnight in restoring power to 1026 customers, or approximately 2/3rds of the outages. Crews continue to work on restoring additional customers. However, there may be a few customers who may have a service connection problem that is the responsibility of the property owner. In this regard, please review the attached JCP&L flyer entitled “Who Owns What?” which describes what JCP&L is responsible for as opposed to certain electrical components that are the responsibility of the homeowner. If you continue to experience service issues, it is best to call JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877 for a determination as to the nature of the problem.

The Township will post updated information upon receipt from JCP&L. As always, stay away from damaged trees and low hanging wires. Call the Police Department at 973-428-2511 and JCP&L at 1-888-544-4877 to report downed wires or, an unsafe condition. Be well and stay safe.

As of Saturday afternoon, August 8th, 292 residents remain without power.
