Bee Meadow Swim Team
Important Information Regarding the 2020 Bee Meadow Swim Team Season
In an abundance of caution and in light of the far-reaching impact of COVID-19, Hanover Township Recreation is canceling the Bee Meadow Pool Swim Team for the 2020 season. This was not an easy decision and was done in consideration for the health of the swimmers, parents, coaches, and spectators who support the Bee Meadow Pool Swim Team. At this point in time, we are planning on opening the Bee Meadow Pool on or about July 1, 2020. However, we still do not know if we will in fact be opening. This is dependent upon the Governor’s upcoming recommendations and the number of members who register for the pool.
- The Bee Meadow Pool Swim Team usually begins registrations now, holds rusty swimmer clinics, tryouts and practices in early June, and has a season that lasts from mid-June to the end of July. With a projected opening of July 1, 2020 there is not enough “pool time” available to get the team selected, have practices, and run the full schedule of meets.
- The Swim Association in which the team competes does not have a firm schedule in place for 2020 nor are there guidelines in place for revamping swim meet requirements. As currently organized, swim meets are not conducive to meeting the social distancing requirements.
- By bringing teams from other towns into the Bee Meadow Pool, Hanover Township Recreation assumes responsibilities for not only Township residents but those from other areas.
Although many families will be disappointed by this decision, remember that it is a temporary one. Like our Swim Team Parent Board, we are already looking forward to the 2021 swimming season!
