Toys for Tots Update -- The Township's "2018 Toys for Tots Drive" done in partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve drew an overwhelming response. As a result, the Township of Hanover was able to give the Marine Corps Reserve over 500 toys to help brighten the holidays for underprivileged children throughout the Northern NJ area. The Township Committee would like to thank the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for the collaboration, and the public, our board and commission members, and employees for their generosity which made this year's drive such a great success!

The Southeast Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (SMCMUA or Authority) had previously informed you that we had violated the TTHM standard for the third quarter of 2018. As a result of the violation, we implemented corrective actions to improve the water age and changed from a purchased surface water supply to an Authority owned groundwater supply. While we expected to regain compliance with the fourth quarter sampling, the final results reported a value of 80.9 ppb which exceeds the 80 ppb standard. This fourth quarter exceedance requires that a second public notice be issued which is provided as an attachment for your reference. The attached public notice will be direct mailed, on or around November 26, 2018, to each postal patron in the service area and posted on our website.
The Southeast Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority will also issue a press release prior to the distribution of the public notice to the general public and ask that all media notifications be directed through the Executive Director/Chief Engineer in order to have a successful rollout of this information. We will provide an update after completion of the next compliance sample event, or in late January 2019. Based on the data collected to date, we do expect to achieve compliance with this next round of sampling.
If you need additional information, please contact Laura Cummings, P.E., Executive Director/Chief Engineer, at 973-261-4437 or Drew Saskowitz, Water Quality Superintendent, at 201-476-4341. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
